Day 3 - Thursday 18 July - At Sea

Almost slept in this morning and not because we had head headaches from celebrating Queensland's victory last night. Set the alarm on my phone for the wrong time zone! After Queensland's triumph last night  there will be plenty of NSW passengers walking around with long faces today - shame about that.

Have spent a quiet day today - well we have been quiet unlike some of the families and entertainment staff on the cruise! Keeping with the food theme as there isn't much more to report, we started with breakfast of fresh fruit followed by made to order omelette. Then headed off to a quiet nook to read so that Philip could finish his current eBook before the loan expired. Motion of the ship and being indoors had a serious soporific effect so then headed up to the Lido Deck (pool area) and found ourselves a sunny sheltered table on the port side with fresh air. Read until lunch and then after eating (yes again) the entertainment crew and noisy extended Italian family kicked in. Headed back to our cabin with a flat white and some nibbles and retired to our balcony to enjoy.

Have now finished today's Nanna nap and so it is walk around the Sun deck time for Philip and the exercise bike in the gym for Alison. Philip completed 11 laps with strong head winds but on the other side strong tail winds (distance around 5Km) and Alison did 4km on the bike but no wind!

Tonight is the first elegant cruise dinner so we dressed up a tad but not as much as some and with more taste than some others! Spent an hour sitting on the side of the atrium bar area watching the passing parade. Important to keep a straight face at times. Tonight's showtime in the dining room was one of the staff singing "That's Amore" and we got up and danced between the tables.

After dinner headed to Pharoah's Palace Theatre for the first production show - Hot Jazz. Okay but a little disjointed and less jazz than other music. A girl of about 10 sitting behind us kept kicking the back of Alison's seat and eventually Alison did a full turn and gave her a death stare - no more kicking after that. The disappointing thing the girls' mother was sitting beside the child and didn't stop her first off.

The picture below shows tonight's towel animal - a rabbit:
